The Sims 2 Review -- Creep

Hey! Is that Elivs over there? Not quite. It's my new Sim, which happens to resembles Elvis, who I just created using the newly designed Sims 2 Sim creation interface. Creating a Sim in the Sims 2 is relatively the same as in the original with some fun options intermingled within the design process. Name, gender, and all the other options from the original are obviously still there, but when you're able to choose what kind of underwear your Sim will wear, that's where the fun begins. Obviously, I thought it would be more fun to have my Sim walk around in some whitey tighties, so thats what I chose. There were also some cool features which allowed me to change some of the physical features on my Sim such as facial structure, eyes, and hair. Not only were there options for me to change my Sim's appearance, but also his astrological sign and what type of Sim he would be: family, romance, etc.

Now that I had my Sim created it was time to find him a suitable home to move into. Even though there were some nice premade houses, I decided to build my own. First of all, I had to zone a lot for where the house was going to be built. So I found a suitable location and began to throw up some walls. The interface is pretty much the same as in the original except with many more options. Up went a bathroom, kitchen, a makeshift living room, and what I called my room, which was a box at the far corner of the house with a double bed placed inside. In the Sims 2, you need a double bed so your Sims can have sex. Well, I mean, it's the art of sex, but in the game it's called 'WooHoo'. We have to remember the game is rated Teen for a reason...right? Anyway, back to construction. Once the inside was completed, I slapped a roof on top and was ready to have my Sim purchase this shit hole of a house and call it home.

So, I purchased the house and began to play my Sim. The Sims in The Sims 2 are more unique than the first. Now, they have wants and fears. If you fulfill a want, you gain some skill points and on the reverse side of that, if a fear is fulfilled you loose some of your already earned skill points. If you save up enough skill points, you can usually buy something pretty useful for your house. Since my Sim is a romance Sim, he wants the ladies...and I mean all of them. He has wants of making new girl friends, making out with them, and then having 'WooHoo' with them. On the opposite side of that his fears are being rejected, becoming fat, and getting engaged. When a want or fear is fulfilled, a new one will automatically take its place. So there will always be four wants and three fears. So, I played my Sim out as a Pimp and had 'WooHoo' with all my lady friends...in the bed, hot tub, and in the changing room at the store. I was hoping there would be an option so I could do it on the couch, but to my avail, there was nothing.

Straight or not, sex is a big part of the Sims 2

Overall, the Sims 2 is an extremely fun and addicting game just like the original. Better graphics and enhanced gameplay greatly add to the visual attractiveness as well as the replay ability. There were two aspects though which I found to be an annoyance during the gameplay. The first would be whenever I would want to place a specific I piece of furniture. I would first rotate it to the direction I would want it to face and then I would try to place it on a specific position on the floor and it would automatically change the way the piece of furniture or any object for that matter was facing. After a few attempts, it finally worked, but not before being an annoyance. The second downside would be the adjusting of the camera angle. Don't get me wrong, you can adjust the camera to any angle you would want to view, but speed at adjusting the angle seems to take forever from one angle to another.

Other than my two minor grievances, the Sims 2 is a great game that I highly recommend you try out. You'll have just as much fun, if not more fun, playing it in regards to the first. I feel the Sims 2 lived up to the expectations set by its predecessor and I'm already waiting for the news of a third.
