Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising Demo -- exclusive review

Sadly, the Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising demo ends up feeling like a budget version of Battlefield Vietnam. The game is set in Indonesia -- imagine the Vietnam war with modern day weapons. The demo reminded me of the various Delta Force games I have played in the past. The graphics engine appears horribly dated and the vehicle physics are unrealistic. The weapons aren't quite as bad, there is a huge variety to choose from even if it is only a demo. I particularly like the iron site view in zoomed in mode even if they are only sprites.

The multiplayer demo will give you an at least an hour of fun. Due to the enormous map size I honestly did not notice that there were 100 players on the server. The demo map is dark. While this is a bonus for stealthy gameplay, I did not find the map visually impressive. Considering that many games put their best maps in the demo this is not a good sign.

Judging from the demo this game is worth $20. If you have already played Battlefield Vietnam then you may be interested in checking out the Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising demo. Otherwise, don't pre-order this title.
