Only 8 months after the release of Doom 3, and right on the heals of the Xbox release, the first expansion pack is out. Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil adds new weapons (double barrel shotgun and gravity gun) along with a new multiplayer mode -- capture the flag. The gameplay in Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil is more action oriented than the original because there aren't all those little details like e-mails (probably why the game got released so fast.) |

Life after Doom 3? Apparently it involves cellphones! John Carmack is working on a Doom cellphone game called DoomRPG. Interestingly he recommends cellphone programming for begginers..
"I have a small list of games that I think would work out well, but what I decided to work on is DoomRPG - sort of Bard's Tale meets Doom. Step based smooth sliding/turning tile movement and combat works out well for the phone input buttons, and exploring a 3D world through the cell phone window is pretty neat." |
