Doom 3 Review -- Counterfrag

Has every fan’s prayers been answered with the release of Doom3? We sure as hell hope so! It’s a quit different step in what the original games were, running and shooting anything and everything that moves in all directions at once; with what seemed to be an unlimited amount of ammo most of the game. For those of you who weren’t cool enough to have a computer when Doom first came out, you’re not missing the story at all, Doom3 is retelling it magnificently.

You’re taking the place of a marine who had an “accident” on Mars, after landing you walk through hallways to your destination to meet your Marine General who gives you a mission to find a lost scientist in an abandoned building. Throughout the game the story unfolds and it’s a hell of a ride, from picking off slow moving monsters to the classic fireball throwing hellions. There are plenty of weapons to dispose of them and keeping you feeling BADASS.
Take your time and drool over this brilliant engine behind the game while you have the chance before running for you’re life. Hands down this is the scariest game with the best graphics to date. I will never play it when I am home alone or in the dark.
This may seem like a non-innovative game that’s been done before but there seems to be something that will always keep you interested, like coming across a PDA with a voice message of them self before they were mauled to death warning you of the disaster ahead, fighting beside sentinels, and lonely survivors. I can’t help myself with the graphics; immaculate would be the perfect work to use in this game and the lighting effects are phenomenal.
The game was tested on an AMD 2600, 512 MB of Ram, and eVGA’s e-G-Force 256MB DDR video card running at 400mghz. Settings were placed on high and it stuttered slightly but nothing close to being upset about. In other words, don’t hesitate to buy it if you feel your system is inadequate. There is a Low, Medium, High, and OH GOD ULTRA HIGH graphics mode. All in all this game WAS worth the wait and worth EVERY penny. SyG.
