Andrew's RetroFrag List

It would be fair to say I've spent more than my fair share of time playing computer games. Here's a list of games I've enjoyed in the past, and hope you'll get a chance to enjoy some day too.

Terminator: Skynet

For some reason this game didn't seem to get the reviews it deserved when it was new. Well, they were wrong. This game has allot to offer and is a must for any Terminator fan. If you want to go up against a T-800 with an uzi, this game gives you the chance. The graphics were revolutionary for their time, and still suffice for today. I wish I could have enjoyed this game multiplayer, but never got the chance.

Commander Keen

This was the PCs answer (or John Carmack's) to Super Mario. This one is truly a timeless classic and a must for anyone who loves sidescrollers.

Transport Tycoon

Enjoy games like SimCity and Rollercoaster Tycoon? Drop everything you've got an check out this game. Despite its age, it has a serious following.

Crusader: No Remorse and No Regret

These two games offered some blazing third person action back in the day. The 2D graphics may be dated, but they are by no means ugly. If you enjoy modern FPSers such as Halo and Unreal Tournament, this sci-fi shooter should be a blast for you.

Warcraft

Play Warcraft 3? Well, heres the game that started it all. I enjoyed the darker atmosphere of this game, especially in contrast to Warcraft 2. While your waiting to get into the World of Warcraft beta, check this game out.

Magic Carpet

Think Descent, except that your flying around on -- a magic carpet! Despite the dated graphics, this game provides hours of excitement to eye candy-spoiled gamers today. The unique part about this game was that not only did you kill some wild monsters, but after they died you picked up balls (kind of like mana, which rolled all over the place) and were able to build larger buildings and thus have better spells to kill more monsters (and eventually other guys flying around on magic carpets.) The levels were unrestricted, and you could fly anywhere until you completed the mission. Game modders should check this one out for ideas.
