Unbelievable, it doesn’t seem that long ago that I was paging through a preview of Ultima Online in PC Gamer magazine almost unable to believe what I was reading. Launching in 1997, Ultima Online is over 8 years old now. With that comes a new edition of the game, Ultima Online: The 8th Age.

When you purchase The 8th Age your recieve an advanced character, 6th character slot, blue soulstone, all six expansion packs, one of eight special items, and 45 days of play free.

Becoming a Jedi in Star Wars Galaxies easy

A new update to Star Wars Galaxies makes it much easier to become a Jedi. Before it took months of long, hard play to unlock the class. Now its available when you create a new character. Star Wars Galaxies is changing amid fierce competition from other MMORPGs. Perhaps Sony is getting the drift that new players want a game that is fun, not a job. Of course, this is bad news for hardcore Star Wars gamers.

Jack Thompson may be disbarred

If this wasn’t true I’d still be laughing. But it is. Perhaps this will prove once and for all its the anti-gamers that are the ones that don’t have their heads screwed on straight.

GameIndustry.biz is reporting that the company representing Rockstar has filed a motion to have flagrant self-promoter and game basher lawyer Jack Thompson removed from the case and be disbarred due to threats through press releases.

Anti-videogame campaigner Jack Thompson has appeared in court to defend his right to practice law in Alabama, following accusations that he violated legal ethics ahead of a civil case against companies involved in creating and selling Grand Theft Auto.

Update: Thompson has voluntarily withdrawn himself from the case.

Rise and Fall Civilizations at War Video Preview

riseandfall-civilizations.jpg

Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War is a tactical real time strategy game that looks a lot like Rome: Total War, but has a unique twist — you can control an individual hero. IGN has posted a video preview of this amazing looking war game. One of the coolest, and perhaps most unique elements of Rise & Fall is naval battles. Catapults, ramming, man to man combat, and sinking ships — its all here. I can’t wait for this game to be released.
