More reviews of Microsoft’s brand new Xbox 360 are coming in. This impression article is from Gaming Nexus. In it the reviewer sets up Xbox Live in about 30 minutes.
I had picked up NHL 2K6 and Condemned: Criminal Origins before dinner and since I’m one of the few hockey fans left on the face of the Earth I figured it was only proper to fire that game up first. Given that I don’t have an HDTV I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. The game looks and plays exactly like the Xbox version.
All is not bad. The reviewer goes on to say Condemned was a more impressive example of the Xbox360’s true capabilities.

1up.com is reporting that Final Fantasy XI will be released for the xBox360. That leaves me wondering, will we be seeing Final Fantasy XII for the Xbox 360 too? I hope so, because the screenshots for PS2 looked a little, well, dated.

I’ve been a reader of PC Gamer for years. Probably picked up my first issue back in 1996. They have a new editor, Greg Vederman, and he’s looking to shake things up a bit. The old editor has been promoted to associate publisher so they needed someone to fill in his position.
My first issue as Editor of Chief — the January 2006 edition – hits newsstands on December 13. And here’s why you should care: The magazine has been completely re-envisioned and redesigned to be the best, most relevant PC gaming magazine you’ve ever read. Don’t you dare miss it.

VoodooExtreme has posted screenshots of Xbox360 snowboarding game Amped 3. These widescreen screenshots of snowboarders look pretty impressive. In case you missed it, Kotaku also posted screenshots from Amped 3 a few days ago — a little granier, probably a lot closer to what the game will look like on your crappy old television set.

From Kotaku.com –
Best Buy wasn’t that delighted with the 26-page document leaked to us and the stories we wrote off it and they slapped us with what amounted to a cease-and-desist order claiming we were posting a copyrighted document.
Pick up your new Xbox 360s somewhere else folks.

Kotaku has their hands on a brand new Xbox360 — and its looking good! Some of the highlights are the photorealistic Project Gotham Racing 3. They also played Kameo, NBA 2k6, and Amped 3. Looks like the Xbox 360 will be a great gaming system!

A really cool new screenshot of Day of Defeat Source has been released by Valve. This DOD Source screenshot is from a new unreleased map, Argentan. It shows a German firing his rifle at two Allied soldiers as a bomber flies overhead. This new Argentan map should be added within the next few weeks; it is still being playtested.

New Q&A’s for Ghost Recon 3 have been added to the official Advanced Warfighter site. Here are a few answers, if you’ve been wondering: still no jumping, 2 physics engines used including Havok, and no outlining of silhouettes in the PC version (thank you!)

1UP has reviewed a preview demo of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XII. They describe the game as “radically different” from the Final Fantasy games before it — but in a good way. More action, combat, and a contiguous world to play in. This game is for PS2. Unfortunately that means the graphics look more than a little bit dated. With all the images coming from the next gen consoles, FFXII is going to need really great gameplay to compete.

Here is a wierd story. Someone decided to port the original Doom to iPod! The iDoom website has screenshots from iPod mini and iPod nano — and it doesn’t look too bad. There are also several videos on the site as well. After putting off buying an iPod, I just might have to get one now if I can play Doom anywhere I want! (and listen to great music too)
